An excellent book with compact but comprehensive and
thorough information for the lay person, although could do with updating (last published,
we believe, in 1996). Covers nutrition, herd health, reproduction, calving, temperature
taking etc. Certainly worth having. |

Medicine and Surgery of South American Camelids

Murray Fowler
has completed many years of specialist veterinary experience and research working with llamas. This weighty tome
is recommended to herd owners as a reference book and should be on the shelf of every vet who has
llama-owning clients. (2008 comment: although some
of the content is now a little dated in that much more has been
learned since this book was last revised). |

Two volumes of advanced veterinary papers highly
recommended for experienced owners. |
The complete Alpaca Book
by Eric Hoffman
Bonny Doon Press |
An unfortunate title as
this book has a lot of helpful information on llamas and much of the
alpaca content is relevant for llamas too. Whilst Murray Fowler's
book is aimed primarily at vets, this book is much more
user-friendly for non-veterinary trained owners. |
